A bear warning remains in effect for the Canmore Benchlands area, extending from the Alpine Club of Canada west to the Banff Park boundary, including the areas above SilverTip Golf Course and Harvie Heights.

February 24th, 2006 - Open House: The Biosphere Institute will be celebrating the launch of our newly upgraded resource centre and library from 2-4pm.  Please stop by to see our new displays.  Click here for more information.


February 1st, 2006 - Database Update: The library and bibliographic database have been upgraded to include many new references from the Alberta Community Development: Parks and Protected Areas library.  The bibliographic database now contains 7,280 records, with 2,320 of these in hardcopy and available for loan from the Biosphere Institute.  Search the database.


January 2nd, 2006 - Mountain Pine Beetle Inspection Survey: The Town of Canmore will be conducting a comprehensive inspection survey for the Mountain Pine Beetle (MPB) from Monday January 2, 2006 to March 10, 2006. Click here for more information.

July 5th, 2005 - Travel is now restricted to designated trails in the Upper Benchlands area of Bow Valley Wildland Provincial Park. This closure involves the Upper Benchlands Trail, while the new Montane Traverse trail remains open. Visit Alberta Community Development for more information. This is a presentation about the threat of climate change to the Canadian Alpine and the solutions to the problem. The presentation will begin at 7:00 pm at the Canmore Inn & Suites (formerly the Howard Johnson), in the Three Sisters Ballroom, 1402 Bow Valley Trail, Canmore.
