Earth Talks: Growing Food Sovereignty at Home and in the Community

Small Acts, Shared Impact: Growing Food Sovereignty at Home and in the Community

When: February 23  |  7:00pm
Where: Friends Program Room.

Join Michelle Backhouse from the Bow Valley Food Alliance to learn more about where our food comes from and how small actions can support both personal and planetary health. This session will include a hands-on sprouting demonstration using everyday materials (jars, seeds, cheesecloth, and water). Participants are encouraged to bring a small jar as supplies are limited.

Participants Will Learn:

  • How food choices affect personal health, community wellbeing, and the environment, and how food sovereignty helps people regain control over what food they eat and how it’s produced

  • How to sprout food at home step-by-step, including which seeds to use, how to use a jar, cheesecloth, and water, and how sprouts can add fresh, affordable nutrition year-round

  • Practical ways to use your voice, including who to write to, what to say, and how respectful “calling in” can influence food and health decisions locally

Space is limited; please register below.
