Leaving a Legacy

A bequest is a simple and powerful way to ensure our work carries on for future generations.

A bequest is a personal gift you leave in your Will as a lasting legacy of your beliefs and values.

For many of us, it is the best way to make a contribution that truly reflects our appreciation and respect for an organization. All bequests to the Biosphere Institute are important, no matter how large or small.

Why Should I Leave a Legacy Gift?

·      Create a lasting impact: Your legacy supports environmental stewardship and community resilience long into the future.

·      Provide clarity and peace of mind: A well-planned will ensures your wishes are honoured and your loved ones are cared for.

·      Flexible and easy: A bequest can be made or updated at any time as your circumstances change.

·      Tax-efficient: Legacy gifts can offer valuable tax benefits for your estate and family[N1].

Types of gifts

Remember us in your Will with a:

  • Specific bequest:  Leave a specific dollar amount, percentage of your estate, or property such as securities or real estate.

  • Residuary bequest: You designate all or a portion of your estate’s residue (what is left after payment of taxes, debts, settlement costs have been satisfied)

Wills are personal matters and we recommend you speak with a lawyer to ensure you have a properly-drawn Will. Our official name is “Biosphere Institute of the Bow Valley”. We are a federally registered charity, and our registration number is 88912 8625 RR0001
