In this Session:
Alberta is a petro-state where our provincial finances are linked to the sale of crude oil, mostly to the United States. This economic dependence on a greenhouse gas-producing commodity means we are bound as a province to earn revenue while we make a massive contribution to Canada' Greenhouse Gas emissions. What happens when the world no longer needs our oil? Already the global market for oil and gas is plateauing and soon will start a slow but steady decline. How can Alberta take advantage of its natural bounty of economic opportunities while recapturing a leading role in fighting climate change?
