World Day of the Glacier

Why: Glaciers are crucial for regulating the global climate and providing freshwater, essential for billions of people. Here in the Bow Valley, we owe everything from our drinking water and topography to the mighty ice. 

When: Join us at Elevation Place in Canmore on Saturday, March 21st, 1-4pm for a series of events to celebrate, advocate and educate as part of the United Nations' World Day of the Glacier

Who: Hosted by the Biosphere Institute in collaboration with POW Canada, this event will feature an outdoor aerial silk performance by Sasha Galitzki, musical performance by Scott Diehl (Digital Nomad), talks by local Author Lynn Martel, United Nations University representative Bob Sanford, and ACMG/IFMGA guide Phil Widmer. The event will also feature screenings of climate change-related films, Losing Blue, introduced by local filmmaker herself Leanne Allison, and Embers (starring Sasha Galitzki).
