Lessons from the 2024 Jasper Wildfire: Wendy Hall (Jasper resident) will share personal reflections and experiences from the Jasper wildfire while Brooklyn Rushton from the Resilience Institute will speak to broader lessons and takeaways.
FireSmart and Prevention: Simon Bagshaw (FireSmart Coordinator, Town of Canmore) and Chris Pottie (FireSmart Coordinator, Town of Banff) will share how FireSmart principles help reduce wildfire risk and what individuals and neighbourhoods can do to be better prepared.
Municipal and Emergency Response Efforts: Jason Lyon (Deputy Chief of Community Risk Reduction, Town of Canmore) will speak to how fire response and fireguard initiatives are supporting wildfire preparedness and response in and around Canmore.
