Weaving Together Indigenous & Settler Knowledge to Steward the Environment

Earth Talks: Weaving Together Indigenous & Settler Knowledge to Steward the Environment
How can Indigenous knowledge and Western science work together to better protect wildlife and the environment in the Bow Valley?

Join Dr. William (Bill) Snow, Dr. John Paczkowski, and Canmore Mayor Sean Krausert for a conversation exploring Biculturalism and how Indigenous and Western knowledge systems can inform wildlife conservation and environmental stewardship.

Bill Snow will share about the principle of "Biculturalism" and the "Cultural Monitoring" methodology, an approach that brings Indigenous knowledge, cultural relationships, and ecological observations into wildlife management. Learn more here: Biculturalism and Bison Cultural Monitoring (Braiding Knowledges Canada).

Together, the panel will explore how these different ways of knowing can strengthen collaboration, deepen our understanding of local ecosystems, and help shape the future of environmental stewardship in the Bow Valley.
