CASINO - Biosphere Institute of the Bow Valley

We are seeking volunteers for our upcoming Casino in Calgary!

Our organization has a wonderful opportunity to raise significant funds to support our fabulous programs! We are writing to ask that you (and possibly your partner, other adult family members, etc) consider volunteering at our upcoming Casino.

The casino will be held on Thursday May 29 and Friday May 30 at the newly renovated and popular ACE Casino Blackfoot located at 4040 Blackfoot Trail SE Calgary.

What’s in it for you?
All volunteers receive free accommodation at the lovely Hotel Blackfoot, plus meals and travel costs are covered! It’s a great way to support a local cause, meet like-minded people, and enjoy a night or two away — all while making a real difference.

No experience is needed — just a willingness to help out. We’ll provide everything you need, and below are listed certain skills that might help you choose a volunteer role. Our organization needs to fill 36 volunteer slots; you can volunteer twice if you’d like, but must fill the same role. There are 6 daytime slots, and the remainder are evening or early morning. We’d love for you — and maybe a partner, friend, or adult family member — to join us.

We have cread a sign-up sheet and that gives the specific times of each shift. Please click on the following link to go to the sign-up sheet, then just follow the instructions on the page. It only takes a few seconds to do. Once you’ve signed up, we’ll send you details about how to book your complimentary hotel room and breakfast.

We have the following roles available:

  • GENERAL MANAGER is Computer Literate, and works in the Cash Cage. Participates in the opening and closing of the casino. Supervises the Cash Cage. Witnesses "Cash Outs" from players through Cashier. Fills in for Banker when they are on a break. Covers for all volunteer positions.

  • BANKER is Computer Literate, and fills chip orders as required from the Gaming Floor. Assists General Manager supervising the Cash Cage. Witnesses "Cash Outs" from players through Cashier.

  • CASHIER. Cash Handling experience helps. Redeems player's chips for cash. Minimal amount of computer input is required.

  • CHIP RUNNER is somewhat Computer Literate, and is a courier (runner) for chip orders. Participates in the opening and closing of games.

  • COUNT ROOM SUPERVISOR is Computer Literate. Inputs the count from each drop box.

  • COUNT ROOM STAFF are good with working with their hands! Opens and sorts cash from Drop Boxes. One person is required to input count from each drop box into the computer.

Thanks so much for considering this! It will really help our organization deliver on our mission!
