How to Get Involved

One of the most practical ways to take action is through how we consume.

Conscious consumption is not about doing everything perfectly or going without. It is about being more intentional. Using what we have, choosing quality over quantity, and considering the impact of our choices.

This can look like:

Being mindful about what we buy and reducing unnecessary consumption
Finding ways to reuse, repair, or share instead of throwing things away
Using energy more efficiently at home and at work
Choosing lower impact transportation options
Limiting your digital footprint by reducing unnecessary streaming or file storage
Participating in local events, programs, and conversations about sustainability

Community Updates

Clean Energy Improvement Program

The Town of Canmore’s Clean Energy Improvement Program offers up to $50,000 in financing for energy efficient upgrades, plus a $500 incentive. Applications close October 2026.

The program covers improvements like insulation, windows and doors, heat pumps, water heaters, and solar systems. With a low 2.7% interest rate and no application fees, it is a unique opportunity to make upgrades now and pay them back over time through your property taxes.

Fruit Tree Replacement Incentive

Thanks to funding from the G7 in 2025, the Fruit Tree Replacement Incentive will continue into 2026. This program supports residents in removing and replacing fruit bearing trees and shrubs to help reduce wildlife attractants. It runs alongside the Town of Canmore’s Fruit Tree Removal Incentive and plays an important role in keeping wildlife wild in the Bow Valley.

Proposed Silvertip Gondola
